After the failure of Redmi 7A, Xiaomi didn’t delayed the Redmi 8A which seems to be an immense Upgrade over it’s last generations.

Not only the Redmi 8A is better than its predecessors, it is even better than other smartphones which costs more than it!

But there are some myths going all around, so not only we are going to review Redmi 8A in this article but will also be busting those myths.

Specifications

The all-new Redmi 8A comes with Snapdragon 439 clocked at 2GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM with 16GB of Internal Storage. Whereas the top-end variant goes all the way up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of Internal Storage.

The Device will be running on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 out of the box.

Adreno 505 is said to be the GPU here.

And all of this is powered by a large 5000mAh battery which does support fast charging at 18W.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi isn’t providing the fast charger in the box and you will only get a 10W Charger.

Which means that in order to fast charge your phone, you will have to purchase a separate 18W charger costing INR 499.

You can buy the 18W charger online from their official website.

Overview

On the front, there is a 6.2-inches HD+ IPS LCD Display with a dew-drop notch on top.

And Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

Whereas on the back, there is a Single-Camera, Flash and Redmi branding.

Unfortunately there is no fingerprint sensor but Xiaomi has provided an option for Face Unlock which is recently fast and accurate.

And the Back is completely made up of plastic with a texture offering better grip.

Snapdragon 439

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 SoC is an Octa-Core CPU with of course Eight Arm Cortex A53 Cores clocked at 2.0Ghz and built on 12nm FinFet Process Technology.

Adreno 505 is used as GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and Hexagon 536 as DSP (Digital Signal Processor)

Snapdragon 439 is definitely better than MediaTek Helio A22 and MediaTek Helio P22 which is the most known processor for entry-level smartphones.

Camera Department

On the back, there is a 12-Megapixel Sony IMX 363 with an aperture of f/1.8 which is the exact same sensor used on Pixel 3a costing $600 and Poco F1 costing $300.

But Keep in mind, that image quality depends on a lot of aspects such as Aperture, Optics, Post-Processing and many more.

Which means that even though Redmi 8A comes with Sony IMX 363, don’t expect flagship-level performance or even close to it.

But yes, the Camera Performance will definitely be far better than its competition with noticeable differences.

For selfies, you get to see an 8-Megapixel Shooter with f/2.0 aperture.

Pricing

Redmi 8A is exclusively available on Flipkart at a price tag of 6,499 for 2GB of RAM and 16GB of Internal Storage. There is another variant costing 6,999 and comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of Internal Storage.

Market Competiton

At a starting price of 6,499 INR, Redmi 8A directly competes with Realme C2 and Lenovo A6 Note.

No matter which aspect we talk about, Redmi 8A is simply better than all of them.

As of now, no phone under even 10k is offering Sony IMX 363 Camera Sensor.

At such a budget price tag, you are even getting USB Type-C and 18W Fast Charging supported which no other phone offers at least today.

Something to note is that even though you are getting Type-C, it is a 1.0 Type-C port which means that slower data transfer speeds are assured. But again, even phones offering Micro USB Port are 1.0 Micro USBs so that shouldn’t matter.

So Should you Buy Redmi 8A?
Well, definitely yes. You simply cannot get any better deal than this unless and until Realme decides to kill it but that would take another 4-5 Months for Realme to do so.
