Asus has been on fire since the launch of Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 last year and since then they have been surprising us with back to back amazing phones.

And now they are back with their latest flagship Asus Zenfone 6Z!

So is it any good?

Also considering the fact that they have been highlighting their 48-Megapixel Flipping camera a lot! And is it durable?

Let’s find out in this article!

The all-new Asus Zenfone 6Z comes with a Snapdragon 855 coupled with 6GB of Ram and 64GB of Internal Storage for the base and variant, while the top variant comes with 12GB of Ram and 256GB of Ram.

The device will be running on Android 9.0 Pie with ZenUI 4.0 on Top.

Although they have customized their ZenUI a lot so that users can ultimately get Stock Android experience.

The UI is completely Clean as Android Should be without any bloatware.

Adreno 640 is said to be the GPU here.

And all of this is powered by a 5000mAh battery which does support fast charging at 18W and fast charger is itself provided in the box.

Snapdragon 855

Qualcomm’s latest flagship offering Snapdragon 855 is a 64-Bit Octa-Core Processor with Eight Kryo-485 Cores clocked at 2.84Ghz and built on 7nm Process technology.

This Chipset does support 5G Technology which is yet to be launched in India but there is no word by the company if the Black Shark will support it or not.

GPU used here is Adreno 640 and does come with AIE(Artificial Intelligence Engine) Technology.

Qualcomm’s Hexagon 690 Processor is used as DSP(Digital Signal Processor).

On the Front, there is a 6.39-inch 19.5:9 FHD+ IPS LCD Display Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

The Device has an all-view design.

Which means that there will be no notch or Punch- Hole, It will be complete display on the front.

However, to achieve that, Asus Implemented a Flipping Camera which is Completely Motorized and will flip over automatically every time.

Like for Selfies and for Face-Unlock System which is Fast but definitely not as fast as You Would have expected from a regular Flagship phone without any Motorized front camera system.

Whereas on the back, we get to see Asus Branding, Fingerprint Scanner and Dual Camera Setup System embedded in a Motorized Flip System.

Note that the Back panel is completely made up of Glass.

Camera Department

The Vertical Dual Camera Setup consists of a 48-Megapixel Sony IMX 586 Primary Sensor with an Aperture of f/1.79 and another 13-Megapixel Wide Angle Lens with an aperture of f/2.4 for shooting wide angle shots.

There are two types of Focus implemented by the company, which are Laser Auto-Focus and PDAF(Phase Detection Auto-Focus).

And Dual Tone Flash to support in Low Lighting.

This Setup can Record videos up to 4k@60fps and slo-mo 720p@480fps.

Unfortunately, there is no OIS(Optical Image Stabilization), but Asus has made sure to include EIS(Electronic Image Stabilization) which works flawlessly.

For Selfies, the Complete Rear Camera setup flips out and works as Front Shooter.

The best part is that You are getting the same 48-Megapixel Sony IMX 586 for selfies, as well as the Dual Tone Flash system.

And you can capture Wide Selfies too using the other 13-Megapixel Shooter.

For Vloggers, You can record 4k@60fps videos without any issues or caring about the focus, thanks to its Focus Systems Asus has provided.

As we said earlier that EIS is there, meaningly you guys can record stable Vlogs on the go.

There are some nifty features that Asus has included such as Auto-Panorama which is by far the best feature we have ever tested on any phone and it works fantastically.

Market Competition

At the price tag of ₹31,999 for the base variant, Asus Zenfone 6Z Directly competes with OnePlus 7.

So Which One is Better?
Both the phones have exactly the same processor and Rear Primary Camera.

Although there are certain things that make a difference.

When it comes to performance, both the phones will be at their best you won’t face any issue with any of them.

For the sake of this article, if we start nitpicking, The base variant of OnePlus 7 comes with 128GB of Internal Storage compared to 64GB on the Asus Zenfone 6Z.

OnePlus 7 also features OxygenOS which provides the best User Experience one can ever get on Android.

It even has an AMOLED Display, meaningly that no matter how good IPS LCD Display Asus puts on, AMOLED will always win!

Not only that, Faster Storage USB 3.0 on OnePlus & means that App Openings and Data Transfer speeds will be blazingly fast.

So does that mean you should go with OnePlus 7 over Asus Zenfone 6Z?

Not Exactly!

The all-new Asus Zenfone 6Z might have an IPS LCD Display but it is the best IPS LCD Display, sure it is not as good as AMOLED, but the difference in very low.

You might not even notice it in regular usage.

Moreover, Pictures came out from the Aus Zenfone 6Z are way better as Asus has worked a lot on post-processing.

Every time, we found pictures from Asus turn out to be better.

Also, Asus Zenfone 6Z comes with a completely bezel-less display which overall gives a better impression compared to a Notched Screen on OnePlus 7.

Notification LED on top is provided too in Zenfone 6Z which is Cherry on top.

And you won’t find any device with Notification LED on the front of the device which comes with Completely Bezel-Less Design.
